Acer palmatum 'Nishiki Gawa'Pine Bark Maple | |
This variety commonly called the "Pine Bark Maple" is grown for its interesting corky, rought bark. Highly prized by bonsai growers, it gives even young trees an aged look. Habit and foliage are similar to the species eventually reaching 20 feet tall and 15 feet wide if grown in the ground. Fall color is bright yellow. Excellent choice for container culture. The warty, rough bark doesn't show up for a few years. Young trees may not show the rought bark.
